A freind of mine came across a gentleman, who is here on work visa and he is facing a unique problem. He is married to two persons and wants to bring his whole family here in the USA. He was looking for answer if he can get both his spouses and kids here on H4 visas. Currently both of them and his kids are in India. Interesting hmmm :D

I will be sending the following note to my senator and have already posted it to WhiteHouse.gov. I urge all those screwed by the ongoing retrogression to do the same.
"I am writing to inform you of how the country based quotas imposed on Employment Based green cards are unfair and totally illogical. When I immigrated to the US, I believed that this country was a meritocracy where you were judged based on your abilities and qualities. These country based quotas reward people depending on where they or their ancestors were born. This causes people from India and China to wait over a decade to get a green card whereas someone from another country with similar or lesser abilities can obtain permanent residence in half that time.
Since these EB category based green cards are awarded for professional skills, imposing a country based quota just does not make any sense. I urge you to work with Congress and change this discriminatory policy and reinforce that America is truly a society that celebrates meritocracy."

Lou Dobbs is being attacked all the time by all kinds of people, including big organizations (La Raza, etc.). He brings in ratings, so I'm sure they have a thick skin about him over at CNN. If you're seriously considering a campaign, I would try talking to a reporter friend about 1. whether you should do it (I think it would be counterproductive); and 2. if you decide to do it anyway, how to go about it.
Having signs at the San Jose rally about Dobbs will hurt, not help. Keeping clear the distinction between legal and illegal immigration is key to any political effort, imho. Almost everyone is for legal immigration, but a majority of Americans are very concerned about illegal immigration. You start making this about illegal immigration, even implicitly, and sympathy will dry up quickly. And when you mention the word "Dobbs," the first thing that comes into the mind of the average American is "illegal immigration."

Good idea, but will not work since people cannot think outside the box. Most people think that if I cannot get a GC why should the guy in the next cubicle (who has a US Master's) get it. They don't realize that by taking the US Masters out of the regular queue, they would probably get their GCs faster :)

Look, everybody interprets and sees the way they like and the way they want. Like I only chose to respond to the red dot issue and it is my choice not to respond to the other part of what you wrote. If I "chose" not to respond to the other part, according to you, my interpretation is impaired, right? That means anytime someone doesn't respond according to the way you want them to respond, there is something inherently wrong with them or their interpretation or their understanding. Is that right? Hmmmm, let me think about this, and maybe you may also want to take a moment to think about it.
About the red dot system, I don't care for the red dot system, but what I do is, I do not look at the comments, why, because I don't care what others on the anonymous forum have to say in my reputation. So I simply don't care. But if I would care my reputation score on the anonymous forum where no one knows me or for that matter you, then I would check how my reputation is doing every day, just my credit score. Did you think of the possibility that maybe folks at IV want to keep the red dots system the way it is and there is nothing to be fixed? But just because you do not like it, be default you think that something is broken and so it has to be fixed, and, if this is not fixed that means you are not happy, the entire immigration system will continue to be screwed up. Hmmmm, you know, I think some elements of string theory is true that everything is connected in someway, but I am 100% sure that immigration system can be fixed without any change to the red dot system.
And if you think that you or your friends are losing "self-respect" when participating in any internet blogs/forum, and if you find anything offensive on the open internet forum, you are not cut-out for forums and blogs and you cannot help anyone, or, for that matter yourself. If your ego is so shallow that it hurts everytime someone writes anything on the open forum, in this situation, only 1 person needs help, that would be you.

India was demanding latest fighter jets (F-22) but US can offer only old version F-16,F-18 to India. Basic reason for US denial to latest technology because of India -US relation and their status .US only offers new technology to its close allys. I think it was prudent move from India’s part to get latest and greatest technology. To get these new technologies US congress needs to pass law and define India as close ally.

Its a good thing, hope this will lessen the abuse of the visas by these Indian companies. As I mentioned in another thread, I have seen that H1 and L1s who come from India dont get a very good salary. Not good.

Well if the system were fair, it wouldn't say x pending ROW, it would be like x pending eb3 and y pending eb2. Yes, there are a lot of applications from India, it is a large country! But why should it be relevant in EB based processing?
Did you choose the country you would be born in, or is somehow one's skillset dependent on national origin?
Like it or not, USA want diversity;), they not want to be a second Indian, Asian, Mexican, African, European etc country.
And one way to try to manage this is by country limits.

I have been a long time supporter of IV and all the work that IV does, I have been on this forum for close to three years now and have always believed in the cause of IV and have actively taken part in a lot of the efforts that IV has undertaken and have contributed monetarily as well .
Besides the fact that IV can try to help members in extreme situations like the one I am in, IV is really the only organization that watches out for our community, it is all we have. We need to be an active part of it and should make it stronger.

this is an open forum indeed, rarely do people ever get banned or posts deleted. however, with all rights come some duties and civility is foremost among them.
the person whose posts some are objecting to is not a moderator. he is expressing his own opinions. i'm quite amazed that he has been labeled one or put at par with moderators/administrators by some here.
this is indeed an information sharing forum although that's not all it is. i'm sorry the initial poster never got a reasonable reply. really should have.
as for contribution etc, iv or any moderator is not pushing anyone let alone rudely or being abusive for anything. but lest we all forget, this forum exists because this is a grassroots organization with a commitment to removing retrogression. if that goal gets lost in tourism to the forums, then the forums too will be lost too and very soon. just a gentle reminder for you oh so gentle folks!

when did this happen to you? Is it in the recent past or way back, looking at your post, it seems it was way back. Please confirm as lot of us think this is a recent development as we haven't heard anything about this until this thread.
